Ottawan of the Day: me!

I was named The Ottawan of the Day by The Ottawan, a subscription email service that for many of us is the main source of quality news in the City. After living here for exactly 18 years this week, it is a lovely way to celebrate both that landmark and the success of the short play Third-Party, Blameless. The citation reads:

Ottawan of the Day

Andrew Riddles

The playwright and director has taken first prize in Pelham, NY’s Seat of Our Pants Theatre’s SOOP to Nuts Short Play Festival, the first Canadian to do so. Riddles won for his play, Third-Party, Blameless, a drama about intimate partner violence.

Of course, I didn’t win – the production did, and would not have been possible without the stunning talents fo Renée-Nicole Powell, Ronald Yoo, and Khari Telesford. Not only are they amzazing actors, they are very patient and flexible in their rehearsals (all remote, then them together but me remote, two of them in Central Park, with me on the phone, etc.) and being game to go to take a commuter train to suburban New York for the tech, two semi-final performances, and the final. They’re my heroes 🙂 <3
